Pamoja Tusimame 'Together we Stand' Youth Summer Camp 2009
July 14th-17th 2009

United Kenyans of Chicago NFP (UKC) will be holding a summer camp for youth aged 8-15 at Reynoldswood Christian Camp and Retreat Center, Dixon IL from Tuesday 14th – Friday 17th July. This camp will have a distinct Kenyan and African flavor and will be a wonderful time to develop new friendships and strengthen old ones, as well as experience some exciting personal challenges in the outdoors.

There are many fun activities which may include team building, scavenger hunts boating, swimming archery, etc. We will also have large group games, a campfire, meals together in the dining hall, etc.

Networking Dinner

We face many challenges as Kenyans abroad. Many times we do not know where to turn or if we find solutions to various challenges we often don't have the opportunity to share what we have learnt. This 'late lunch' networking session will allow us to begin that process. We shall discuss a framework for ongoing forums to address the challenges that face us as a community.br>

DARFUR RALLY: FEDERAL PLAZA DOWNTOWN CHICAGO
April 19th 2009

Sudanese community leaders and Sudan/Darfur advocates in Illinois will stage a major rally at Federal Plaza in downtown Chicago. A similar event in 2007 attracted thousands and helped ensure the passage of anti-genocide legislation.

The rally shall have three goals:
- Showing Darfuri children in refugee caamps that residents of President Obama's home state stand with them and that they are not forgotten.
- Highlighting for the world the fact thhat Illinois' American and Sudanese youth are working together in their efforts to bring peace to Sudan.
- Demonstrating to President Obama that Illinois vocally supports new efforts to end the conflict in Sudan.

2nd KENYA DIASPORA INVESTMENT FORUM

AKPA is pleased to announce the 2nd Kenya Diaspora International Conference and Investment Forum entitled "Building a Knowledge-Based Economy in Kenya: The Role of the Kenyan Diaspora" to be held in Atlanta, Georgia beginning on May 21, 2009 through May 23, 2009.
